Beijing Epidemic Inspection station finds HIV carriers among returnees

New Year's and Spring Festival are on the way,
and many overseas workers will be coming back to China. However,
what may surprise many is the news that the Beijing Inspection
and Quarantine Bureau released yesterday, that recently
some people returning
home had tested positive as carriers of the HIV-1 (AIDS) virus.
Officials from the Beijing Inspection and Quarantine Bureau
said that with the arrival of the holidays, a large number of those
working abroad are returning, and increased efforts are being made
to diligently test for epidemics and preserve the safety of the
nation.
On 15 December the Beijing Inspection and Quarantine Bureau
Airport staff discovered one case of a Chinese female HIV-1 antibody
carrier. The person was a passenger on flight CA982 on 15 December
and received an exam for infectious diseases when crossing the
border. The result was positive for HIV antibodies.
On 16 December the Beijing Inspection and Quarantine Bureau
Airport staff discovered one case of a Chinese national with Syphillis
infection. The person was a passenger on flight CA940 on 16 December
and received a rapid exam for infectious diseases when crossing
the border. The result was positive for Syphillis antibodies.
On 20 December the Beijing Inspection and Quarantine Bureau
Airport staff discovered one case of a Chinese national HIV-1 antibody
carrier. The person was a passenger on flight ET628 returning to
China, and received an exam for infectious diseases when crossing
the border. The result was positive for HIV antibodies.
