With the recent release of the city government’s
comments on strengthening AIDS prevention and control work, it
was clarified that people with HIV/AIDS in the city can receive
fully covered care under the low-income insurance program. This
further strengthens the city’s AIDS prevention and control work
efforts.
The “Comments” require that each district and
country place anti-AIDS medicines [ed. ARVS] on basic health insurance
drug list for city and township employees and for the new rural
cooperative health plan, as well as including them in the township
level medical relief plan. At the same time, it clarified that
for rural residents and urban residents in economic hardship, free
ARV treatment will be available, as well as free or reduced cost
medicines and treatment for common opportunistic infections for
those in economic hardship.
